What is Functional Diagnostic Nutrition (FDN)?
Functional Diagnostic Nutrition is a systematic health building program using functional lab testing to find client’s H.I.D.D.E.N. internal stressors (including Hormones, Immune System, Digestion, Detoxification, Environment, and Nutrition) and then design holistic non-drug protocols (including diet, rest, exercise, stress reduction and supplementation) to coach up the body’s own ability to heal itself and restore vitality.
We can help clients identify and heal root causes behind numerous common stress related conditions including:
- Allergies and food sensitivities
- Acne and skin disorders
- Blood sugar problems
- Insomnia
- Low sex drive
- Depression and anxiety
- Fatigue
- Migraine Headaches
- ADD/ADHD
- Hormone Imbalances
- Constipation and diarrhea
- Indigestion and bloating
- Low thyroid
- Adrenal fatigue
- Weight gain, weight loss
How does FDN differ from the medical model?
The medical model is often focused on assessing the client’s “symptoms” in order to come up with a “diagnosis” for which they have an identified “treatment” often involving drugs or invasive procedures designed to suppress symptoms or block normal body function. Most symptom investigation in the medical model is focused on specific sub-specialties with very little correlation between symptoms which may be related across very different body systems (i.e. headaches, acne, and bloating). The FDN model on the other hand works in a non-specific manor seeking to identify healing opportunities and dysfunctions which are generic in nature and broad in their effect across the body. Instead of focusing on the symptoms FDN utilize them as pointers toward deeper disturbances or malfunctions in the body.
Like the medical model, FDN uses science based labs, but instead of solely using them to identify diseases, FDN practitioners use them as hints to inform generalized non-drug healing protocols.
